Speaker at workshop at State Library of SAHeather Brown presenting a Disaster Management for Cultural Collections workshop at the State Library of South Australia today.

Heather Brown, Assistant Director at Artlab Australia, also representing Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), presented a workshop on Disaster Management for Cultural Collections at the State Library of South Australia on 20 October 2021. The workshop covered disaster plans for collections that are digital and physical.

The presentation was held during the Disaster Preparedness and our Cultural Heritage and Collections Symposium alongside speakers from the History Trust of South Australia, also representing Australian Museums and Galleries (AMaGA) and University of Adelaide Library and State Records of South Australia, both representing Australian Society of Archivists (ASA).

This event is presented by Blue Shield Australia in partnership with cultural organisations, professional organisations and supported by the State Library of SA, following on from International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction held every year on 13 October.

United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction launches International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction yearly on 13 October to commemorate people and communities around the world addressing issues related to risk awareness, disaster preparedness and disaster reduction.
