We are delighted to announce that Sarah Feijen has been appointed as the next Director of Artlab Australia.
Sarah is an experienced and well-respected leader committed to furthering the South Australian arts and culture sector. With more than 30 years’ experience working across state and local government and at a range of cultural and for-good institutions, Sarah’s expertise encompasses strategic policy development, partner engagement, fostering innovation, program delivery, advocacy and operational leadership.
Sarah commenced and substantially grew her career as a professional paintings conservator at Artlab Australia, culminating in 11 years as Assistant Director dedicated to the delivery of quality conservation services locally, nationally and internationally.
Of her return to Artlab, Sarah says “Artlab Australia has always held a special place in my heart, having ignited and provided a significant foundation for my career in the creative and cultural sector. I am truly thrilled to be returning to share all that I have learnt over the past decade and to contribute to the important work that Artlab does. I believe in the power of cultural collections to inspire, to educate, to encourage new ways of thinking and to tell the stories of our collective memory. It is an immense privilege to rejoin the respected team to lead Artlab in its next chapter as the pre-eminent business enterprise that services our unique and essential collections.”
Sarah joins Artlab from her most recent role as Chief Executive Officer of Guildhouse, South Australia’s peak body for visual art, craft and design. Prior to this, Sarah held numerous roles reliant on partnership and the delivery of high-value outcomes for community, including Acting Manager Creative City and Team Leader Arts and Culture at City of Adelaide; Group Manager Collections at the State Library of South Australia; and Principal Adviser Arts South Australia.
Sarah will commence with Artlab on 4 November 2024.
